About FiFi Alert
What FiFi Alert is and how it helps find missing pets in Cyprus
FiFi Alert is a free community app for Cyprus that notifies people near a missing pet the moment the owner raises an alert. Neighbours report sightings with photos and a location, the owner follows them on a map, and a QR pet tag lets anyone who finds the pet reach the owner without exposing personal details. The same app includes a public adoption board.
What is FiFi Alert?
FiFi Alert is a lost-and-found pet alert service for Cyprus. It is available as a web app that installs on any phone and as an Android app. It is free for pet owners and for the neighbours who help.
Instead of relying on social media followers, FiFi Alert reaches people by location. Every member chooses one or more alert zones, a circle around their home, work or neighbourhood. When a pet goes missing inside a zone, everyone who covers that zone gets a push notification with the pet's photo, description and last known position.
The service launched in Cyprus and is currently Cyprus-only. It is available in Greek and English.
Who is FiFi Alert for?
-
Pet owners who want a fast way to alert the people around them when a dog, cat or other pet goes missing.
-
Neighbours and volunteers who want to be told when a pet is missing nearby so they can look out for it and report sightings.
-
Anyone who finds a pet wearing a FiFi Alert QR tag and wants to contact the owner immediately, with no account or app needed.
-
People looking to adopt a pet in Cyprus, through a public adoption board that anyone can browse without signing in.
How does FiFi Alert work?
Finding a missing pet with FiFi Alert takes six steps.
- 01
Create a free account and add your pets with a photo, type, name, size and other details. Each pet gets a profile.
- 02
Set one or more alert zones: pick a point on the map and a radius. Zones decide which alerts you receive.
- 03
Enable push notifications. On iPhone and iPad, add FiFi Alert to the Home Screen first, which iOS requires for web push.
- 04
If your pet goes missing, open the pet's profile and raise an alert with the last seen location, time, notes and the broadcast radius. Your phone number stays private unless you choose to share it.
- 05
Everyone whose alert zone covers the area gets a notification. They can report a sighting with the place, time, how sure they are, and photos.
- 06
Sightings appear on your alert's map in order. When your pet is home, mark the alert as found and the community is told the search is over.
What features does FiFi Alert include?
- Missing-pet alerts
- Raise an alert for any pet in your profile. The alert carries the pet's photo and description, the last seen point and time, optional notes and an optional reward.
- Alert zones
- Circular areas you define on a map with a chosen radius. You receive alerts only for pets missing inside your zones, so notifications stay relevant. Zones can be paused and resumed.
- Push notifications
- Alerts arrive as push notifications on Android, on desktop browsers and on iPhone once the app is installed to the Home Screen. Owners are also notified of each new sighting.
- Sightings map
- A map of recent sightings around you, each with a photo, time and a link to the alert. Owners see the full trail of sightings for their own alert.
- Pet profiles
- Store each pet's type, name, gender, size, birthday and photos. Pet types are maintained centrally and include dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and others.
- Public adoption board
- A public list of pets looking for a home in Cyprus, with filters for type, gender, size, age and distance. Browsing needs no account; listing a pet does.
- QR pet tags
- Every pet has a unique tag code and a printable QR card. Scanning it opens a public page where a finder can send a message and their location to the owner. The owner's contact details are not shown on the page.
- Greek and English
- The whole app, including notifications and pet types, is available in Greek and English.
Where does FiFi Alert work and what does it cost?
FiFi Alert is built for Cyprus and is currently available only there. Alert zones, the sightings map and the adoption board all work anywhere on the island.
FiFi Alert is free. Pet owners pay nothing to raise an alert, neighbours pay nothing to receive alerts or report sightings, and there is no paid tier.

How does FiFi Alert compare to other ways of finding a lost pet?
FiFi Alert is designed to work alongside the usual methods, not replace them. The main differences are reach, speed and privacy.
- Facebook and community groups
- A post reaches the people who follow a group and happen to be scrolling. A FiFi Alert reaches everyone who has chosen to watch that specific area, as a notification, within seconds.
- Printed posters
- Posters take hours to print and hang and only cover the streets you reach. An alert covers a radius you choose and includes the photo on every phone.
- Microchips
- A microchip identifies a pet only once it reaches a vet or shelter with a scanner. A FiFi Alert QR tag can be scanned by anyone with a phone camera, so the finder can contact you on the spot. The two work well together.
- Vets and shelters
- Vets and shelters are essential when a pet is handed in. FiFi Alert helps in the hours before that, when neighbours who have just seen the pet can report where and when.
How does FiFi Alert protect privacy?
Your phone number and email are never shown publicly. When you raise an alert you decide whether to share a contact number. On the QR tag page a finder writes to you through FiFi Alert, and only you see their message.
Location is used only for the purposes you choose: the centre of your alert zones, the last seen point of an alert, the place of a sighting, or the position a finder decides to share. Sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies.
Read the privacy policyFrequently asked questions
Is FiFi Alert free?
Yes. FiFi Alert is free for pet owners and for everyone who receives alerts or reports sightings. There is no paid plan.
Does FiFi Alert work on iPhone?
Yes. Open the web app in Safari and add it to your Home Screen. iOS allows push notifications only for installed web apps, so this step is required to receive alerts.
Is there an Android app?
Yes. FiFi Alert is available as an Android app and as a web app that works in any modern browser.
Does FiFi Alert work outside Cyprus?
Not yet. The service is Cyprus-only for now.
How quickly are alerts delivered?
Alerts are sent as push notifications the moment the owner raises them. They typically reach nearby members within seconds, depending on the phone's connection.
Who receives my alert?
Every FiFi Alert member whose alert zone covers the area you set when raising the alert. You choose the broadcast radius.
Can I use FiFi Alert without an account?
Partly. Anyone can browse the adoption board and anyone can scan a QR tag and message the owner without an account. Raising alerts, receiving alerts and reporting sightings require a free account.
What if my pet has no FiFi Alert tag?
You can still raise alerts and receive sightings. The QR tag is optional. Every pet in your profile has a tag code and a printable card you can attach to a collar.
Does a FiFi Alert tag replace a microchip?
No. A microchip is read by vets and shelters with a scanner. The QR tag lets any person with a phone contact you immediately. Use both.
What pets does FiFi Alert support?
Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other companion animals. Pet types are maintained centrally and shown in Greek and English.
